Great episode, particularly the online vs cable breakdown.
I’m an avid consumer of video via iTunes, with over 2TB in my iTunes library at this point and two Apple TVs. Despite this, however, I’m still maintaining basic cable, since the biggest obstacle to going over to a completely online presence in the living room is the lack of readily available and easily accessible real-time content such as news and sports. I watch these types of things via cable, and just about everything else via iTunes.
Most of the streaming-to-living-room solutions that exist today are too complicated and unwieldy for the average user. I have the technical expertise to deal with them but simply don’t want to (they get in the way of simply enjoying my content), and anything more sophisticated than an Apple TV and Rogers Cable PVR doesn’t pass the wife-acceptance-factor (WAF) test.
Anyway, just thought I’d add my two cents. Keep up the great work.
