Big thanks to the Twitter and Facebook contributors for the Valentine’s Day tech gift picks!

Chris - not funny! Actually, what is funny is that I couldn’t find my mittens for this shoot…turns out they were stuffed in the top of my hat, which is why I look like a conehead! #coldweatherfail

  4. Darn! Can’t watch on my iPhone! Guess it’s time to roll out of bed, huh? :P

  5. HA!!! (On my laptop now…) Loved the dance with Stephen Colbert! Hilarious and surprising :) Also, I love these mid-winter outside shots of Amber… you guys are HARDCORE!

    Goodnight!
    C.

  6. jeff says:

Casey: Probably looks a little like home to you :-) .

    Jeff

  7. Ranceman says:

    Nice hat Amber! haha.

  8. James says:

Can anyone tell me what camera you used to shoot this?

I’m guessing a 5D or 7D but I thought I heard Amber mention on Net@Night that it was a actual video camera and not a dSLR

  9. jeff says:

I use a Sony PD-170 but Chris uses a big broadcast camera with a bigger chip in it (probably why some people thought we shot in HD), can’t remember the name (but still Sony). I’m sure Chris will pipe in here when he drops by :-) .

  11. Excellent choice of music for the choc-o-holic in your life Chris.): Have a good V? Day A,C,J,J

  12. Chris says:

    Hey all,

I shoot it on a Sony DSR570 SD camera, the 2/3″ inch chip makes all the difference in the world. Just goes to show you that HD is a little bit more hype than anything else. Proper shooting techniques are the best way to improve video quality, size doesn’t matter! :)
It’s the old Garbage In/Garbage Out rule that matters most.

Thanks for all the kind words and keep watching!

Oh and if anyone wants to donate a 5D or 7D I would certainly love to use it but for now SD is more than adequate.

  13. Liam Kyle says:

Hear, hear Chris. And I remember ‘garbage in, garbage out’ - it was one of the first things they taught us at Uni, right after ‘don’t mess with the back focus’ ;)

  14. anon says:

“Like if you have a web-site you shouldn’t use flash.” Really? Oooops. Time to notify most web-sites out there.

  15. Paul says:

Amber, On the next Commandn sing “O Canada” with Jeff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O_Canada

  16. jeff says:

anon: Flash has its place but was terribly overused for ages in a way that just didn’t gel with the increasingly search-oriented world we live in.

That said, I don’t know any compelling reasons for the world to still be using Flash for video - should be able to just plug directly into the video file if you want, which is my understanding of the HTML 5 implementation. Definitely correct me if I’m wrong.

    PS: Paul: Hmm :-)

    Thanks for watching,

    Jeff

  17. Angie O says:

Anyone have any Kevin Smith remarks? good or bad?

  18. Hi am wondering what happened to the operating system “Warp ” I,ve heard you do your own programming,Is this open source and still available. It appears most operating systems could have originated from this.

If custom, good icon’s are not simple to develop. They can be giant time pits. Although a worthwhile time pit nonetheless :)
